Kate was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 9. After two years of living with this disease, Kate is still the joyous child she always has been, but now she has to remember to check her blood sugar 6 or more times a day, give herself insulin whenever she eats, carry her testing kit everywhere she goes, know her body and how she feels so can tell if her blood sugar drops too low.  These are just some of the responsibilities that I wish my 11 year old did not have to worry about now or ever.  As a parent, we have to remind her to test, to think about what she is eating, tell her that she really doesn't need that extra piece of pizza or cupcake with her friends. We also have to worry each night the maybe she will drop so low that she won't wake up or that her sugar will spike way too high.  Please help JDRF keep searching for a cure to help those who have Type 1. I know there are hundreds of diseases and causes that are worthy.  I want to give to each and every one.  Please consider a donation. Every little bit can make a difference.

JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D.  JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.  As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $568 million in scientific research in 17 countries.
